Mental Health First Aid For Adults Who Interact With Youth

"Mental health problems are arguably the leading health problems children face after infancy."
~Dr. Charlotte Waddell Director, Children’s Health Policy Centre, SFU (Child & Youth Mental Health Plan)

Angela has dedicated her career and significant aspect of her life energy to increase mental health within the lives of children, youth & their families.  Breaking stigma is a challenging endeavour and many heartfelt efforts and initiatives have been made in the last decade to increase awareness related to Mental Health. We recall The Jack Project, Michael Schratter's courageous "Ride Don't Hide", Bell's "Let's Talk" radio commercials and the ton of ground-breaking neurobiology research depicting brain development and it's influence on our understanding of mental health.

MHFA provides the average person with the understanding that we all come in contact with problems related to mental health in our everyday happenings with people we live, work and play with. How might we help change the landscape of our "mental health crisis" if we were able to recognize, understand & attend to our fellow neighbour like we might if they had a broken bone or physical ailment? Learn the signs & symptoms of mental health problems.  Learn it's vital we stop thinking it's 'none of our business' when someone is going through a rough patch. Knowing Mental Health First Aid could save a life. When someone is having a tough time, they might not know how to ask you for help.
